I loved this combo when I bought it. About a few months in, the rod has discolored to a dingy yellow compared to the white reel. One of the reasons I picked this combo was because of how great the all white rod/reel combo looked together. I’m not a smoker, and the rod rides in the front seat of my car, not in the back of a dirty pickup. So there’s no excuse for the paint to have discolored on the rod but not the reel other than just bad quality. The rod itself still performs well, its just so disappointing.
I got the Whitebird spinning combo in January/February, and was finally able to take it out for the first time last weekend. Literally on my first use the reel failed. By failed I mean the line would not retrieve, you could try and reel as hard as you could and the line would retrieve inch by inch very slowly after much force. But what good would that do with a fish on the line. I emailed favorite and asked for a replacement, stating that I would gladly send mine in for a replacement. Their answer was to send mine in and wait for them to examine it or replace it but what do I fish with in the mean time. So fast forward to a few days ago, I took it out one more time to see if I could get it to reel right and guess what happens? The handle broke, that’s right the cheaply made plastic handle broke. I took the reel apart today to examine the insides and realize that the entire reel is plastic disguised as metal. Do yourself a favor and go to Walmart and get the cheapest reel you can find and I promise you it will still out perform the favorite reel. Sure their rods look nice and that’s what sold me too but don’t be fooled, look elsewhere you work to hard to waste your money on products like this.
Good rod and reel I’ve used it for a multi purpose rod used it for bass fishing with finesse techniques like drop shot and ned rig. Also used for a farm pond rod with square bills micro chatter baits and panfish jigs. Unfortunately it broke on me mid cast on my recent fishing trip to Tennessee lost about 7 inches off end of the rod. Couldn’t find a replacement white bird rod in any tackle stores down there so currently collecting dust for the time being waiting to be replaced. Will likely be replaced with the denfender spinning setup
One of my favorite rods for light fishing and finesse. It feels so go that u can feel any light bite. Definitely recommend this rod combo
I love this set up had it for one season, but after my truck accident I lost all my stuff . Just trying my luck to see if I can get “Lucy” back THATS what I named her
