Zack Birge Rush Spinning Rod 7'1" MH FAST

On initial inspection, the guides appear small. The powder coat finish is rich, making me fearful of causing dock rash. The reel seat is secure and foam grip is ergonomic. The hook seat is behind the reel along the split grip. I'd much rather have it in front of the reel behind the gathering guide. Despite the micro guides, the rod casts an adequate distance and accuracy is desirable. I landed a northern pike whose hit came close to the bank, this rod's first real test - this is usually a recipe for a sure break off but the rod handled the fish's power and landing the fish was a breeze. I look forward to more action on this rod. I plan on deploying it daily this season. Over priced at $275, but I picked it up on black friday deals.

very good rod

This rod is serious. The blank on this rod is no joke, and it gives off a vibe that it is meant to be put to work. Bought the 7'7 Heavy and it handles everything I have thrown at it (open water jigs, texas rigs, and even throwing a 1 1/2oz spoon for jigging). Only complaint is the reel seat, I just feel like it is not very secure compared to the other rods I own (shimano, dobyns, phenix, and 13 fishing rods) but for a midrange rod (i purchased this rod during black Friday sales) I have absolutely no complaints with the actual quality of the rod.

Great Rush rods at a steal

Love ‘em! I have 3 of the regular Rush rods and 2 of the Zack Birge rods. They are light, sensitive and strong. Great rods!
